Fire Inspection

We welcome all who want to open a business in our fire district.

Here are the steps that need to be followed:

  1. Make contact with the Lake township zoning inspector. Nicole Wilkinson is whom you will need to speak to.
  2. Tell her the address you want to do business at.
  3. She will research and advise what you can and cannot do at this address.
  4. You will apply for a certificate of use and pay a fee.
  5. After review, the zoning department will forward the zoning application to the fire department to set up an inspection.
  6. The fire department will reach out to the business and set up the fire inspection.

All requests for inspections or questions need to go to mjackson@greentownfire.com

The fire department will conduct a fire safety inspection based on the adopted Ohio Fire Code.

Be aware that zoning rules and the fire code are different.

What may be allowed under township zoning rules may not be allowed by the fire code.

If you have questions about your business and what you are allowed to do, reach out to the fire department and ask for a fire inspector. He can answer your questions and guild you in the right direction to open your business.

Again we welcome any/all businesses to our community. However, for you to be successful, you need to do it the right way. It’s not as simple as renting a house or an apartment. When dealing with the public and having employees, the overall safety of the public is the highest priority. Minimizing liability is in the best interest of you as a business owner.
